Go get some laughs


Went ahead to watch Storm Warriors despite the need for studying over the weekend.

Effects were breathtaking, very good work for that. But it's one noisy movie.

When a sword fight began, with sound effects so loud and piercing into your ear drums. It was immediately a big turn-off, I covered half of my ears throughout except when there's talking, which is like 1/8 of the whole show. Maybe this is why I find it so hard to concentrate and found other sources of entertainment. Like laughing at the ridiculous details.

Names had it going first. They sound really good in Chinese. But in English, nah. Lord Godless. Wow, I thought the translation was bad enough. Until pretty Charlene Choi appeared. And guess what. 第二梦 her name, 'Second Dream'. And that triggered it, I was controlling my laughter whenever her name appears in the subtitles.

I know they don't have David Gan at that time, or your friendly $10 QB House, but their hairdos were absolutely out of place, fizzy long damaged hair.

Only exception was Aaron Kwok aka Cloud. He was the only one with shiny curly perm that dazzles on screen, and will you go Wow when he shows off his sword moves and his perm goes Whish whish whish. His hairdo never goes out of place even after he gets slammed into a cave wall. Made me jealous and wonder what hair spray did he use.

While half the cast in the movie had hair in their face, the other half had them bun up high on their heads reminding me of mushrooms.

There was this character Lord Wicked (another laugh out loud name) His hair was covering his face 90 percent I could not tell who he is, forgive him, as he had his arms chopped off when he could not forgive himself for losing control and killed too many farmers. Probably he couldn't see what happened at the end of the day, and appears at some scenes to speak profound Chinese that left me Huh?

Ekin Cheng aka Wind, turns to demonic powers to defeat Lord Godless. And could not control the devil in him. But the devil in him had his body turned so pale and bruised, into some beautiful colour that will have Edward Cullen nervous.

They create unknown Chinese words and name it after whatever they like, it's not as if it sounds good, it doesn't. This probably had some Chinese teachers breaking out in cold sweat.

Only two female cast, and both are 'flower vases'. Only talk little and gets injured/die. But they are the reason why the men in the movie can have that energy spur even after they get slammed around for hundreds of times.

And they run off to a tomb and have a tug-of-war with some bone (Very small for it to be from a dragon) Lord Godless demostrates how dangerous it is for us without a spine and teaches us never to wear something so heavy while engaging in a fight for your life.

Ended off with some cliff diving, breaking the rules of Mother Nature's gravitational force.

Overall, meaningless movie, adrupt ending. But I have to say, effects were good, the producers really know how to weigh their odds. Without the great effects and all the Shing shing shing of swords that made the movie-goers(not me) so involved, this movie would have been a total total failure. Sticking to the comics will be doing justice to the writers.

Storm riders when I was 7 was so much better. And, the two hunks looks less older.
